Race for Education's 2011 Olivia M. Saylor Scholarship (formerly Fleet Indian Scholarship) Announced

Elmont local, Victoria Casso had been selected to receive the 2011 Fleet Indian Scholarship in memory of Olivia M. Saylor from The Race For Education.
 
The scholarship is sponsored by Mr. Paul Saylor in honor of his daughter, Olivia, who died in January of this year. Olivia Saylor had been involved in Fleet Indian’s racing career as well as various Race For Education events supporting the Fleet Indian and ASHADO scholarships.
 
Victoria Casso, a recent graduate from Sewanhaka High School will attend the University of Kentucky and major in Equine Science. Miss Casso has worked for Dr. James Hunt and played on the lacrosse team at her school. He father, Anthony Casso, worked as an exercise rider for trainer Mark Henning.
 
In addition to Miss Casso, The Race For Education will also award H.B.P.A Horsemen’s scholarships to New York students, Camila Turrieta, Angel Torres and Meghan Rakers. 
 
The Race For Education also partners with the Race Track Chaplaincy of America, New York, to offer the Starting Gate, a college-preparedness program for middle school students and will partner with Anna House in sponsoring an after-school program for elementary school students.
 
The organization’s combined commitment to scholarships and educational programs for New York students is $120,000 for the 2011 – 2012 school year.
