JOIN WLEX SPORTS ANCHOR MARY JO PERINO FOR THE 7th ANNUAL RACE FOR EDUCATION 5K/10K RUN presented by 5/3 Bank! This year the race will be conducted in Midway, KY on October 10th, 2009 at 8:30am; registration at 7:30am.  As has become a tradition, a locomotive from R.J. Corman will be on hand to start the race.   


Dan Hill and Friends will be back with live Bluegrass music and breakfast will be prepared by Darlin' Jean's and sponsored by Breeders' Cup. 
 

       

The Race For Education usually has about 300 - 500 participants in the race each year. There are many divisions and prizes, including wheelchair and stroller!  Walkers are welcome! 

PRIZES: 

5K and 10K for Men's and Women's Overall: 1st place $100 gift certificate to John's Run/Walk Shop; 2nd place $75 gift certificate to John's Run/Walk Shop; 3rd place $50 gift certificate to John's Run/Walk Shop.  Each overall winner also receives a plaque.

Age Division for 5K and 10K: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place receive medals (cannot win Overall and Age Division).   

5K Stroller Division: 1st place $50 gift certificate to Stride Rite; 2nd and 3rd receive medals (cannot win Overall and Age Division). 

CASH PRIZES:

1st Place in 10K Men/Women 40-44: $100 each

1st Place in 10K Men/Women 45-49: $100 each

1st Place in 10K Men/Women 50-54: $100 each

1st Place in 10K Men/Women 55-59: $100 each

1st place in 10K Men/Women 70+: $100 each

Register in advance at John's Run/Walk Shop the day before the race.  You may also register in Midway on the day of the race. Cost: $20.
